The boys with Datuk's Singles Champion Mock Cheque |
On 20th January 2013, we witnessed one of the most one sided finals ever as Datuk Lee Chong Wei breezed past Sony Dwi Kuncoro 21-7, 21-8 pocketing a cool USD30,000 all in just 32 minutes.
I’m sure many will invariably ask this question, had it been Lin Dan in the final, will the fleet-footed world number 1 made to sweat for the crown? Mysteriously, the Chinese ace long absence in the international scene has left many in the badminton fraternity feeling somewhat languid.
At 30, just married and soon to be a father, stotting around the court like a new born springbok, Datuk Lee Chong Wei certainly did not seem to show any sign of slowing down. We all hope that Datuk will stay on top a little longer probably another year or two and cement him a legend in the history of Malaysian badminton.
